“Indigenous is indeed a call to reshape global
missions.” ~ Michael Woodword, Lead Pastor, Ocean State Baptist Church,
Smithfield, Rhode Island (Presents the “Foreword” to Indigenous)
Hearing and being obedient to the Great Commission, Bruce Snavely, as founder of Global Baptist Training Foundation (established January 2012), ushers in a better and more efficient way to “Go” and spread the message of the gospel.
Stating that we are at a crossroads in Christian missions, the
importance of the matter is compared to the author’s “Introduction” in the life-saving
procedures from the on-the-ice doctor who administered care that allowed a young
man suffering a cardiac event to make it to the hospital for surgery. His book
explains in detail how indigenous nationals can be trained to take the gospel
and reach their culture for Christ ~ An amazing book and invitation to revisit
what global Christian missions should incorporate in their effort to reach
souls for Christ.
A fresh biblical approach accompanies this book with
much enthusiasm. With such chapters as: Why Our Mission Began, What is Mission,
Missions: What is Your Perspective? Where is the Biblical Model? What Does
Indigenous Missions Look Like? and Balancing
Your Mission Plan. Each chapter reshapes the way you think missions should look
like.
The author lives what he preaches, and I believe this book is a God-breathed effort. The author includes how God has expanded this work to continents such as Africa and Romania. The insight is invaluable. Bruce Snavely encourages readers to follow the principles set forth in the Bible and do things the way that Jesus and the Apostle Paul made disciples. I appreciate this author’s honesty and keeping to biblical precepts. He is down-to-earth and quite compassionate. It’s obvious the Lord has given him quite the mandate for the nations.
This book gives insight, inspiration, and the how-to
train indigenous pastors for more effectiveness. A truly amazing and
invigorating read. Recommended for pastors, missionaries, and anyone interested
in going to spread the message of the gospel.
